চকরিয়ার উপজেলার উত্তর হারবাং ইউনিয়নের নয়াবাজার এলাকায় রেল-লাইনসংলগ্ন বনভূমি কেটে মাটি বিক্রির মহোৎসব চলছে । পাহাড় কাটা মাটি দিয়ে আরএফএল এর প্রজেক্টের জায়গা ভরাট করা হচ্ছে ।

একটি ডিএনসি দল টেকনাফ উপজেলার রোহিঙ্গা শিবিরের নিকটে অভিযান পরিচালনা করে এবং দুই কেজি ক্রিস্টাল মেথকে বরফ নামেও উদ্ধার করে এবং মোঃ আব্দুল্লাহ (৩১) নামে এক বাংলাদেশী নাগরিককে গ্রেপ্তার করে। গতকাল রাজধানীর সেগুনবাগিচায় ডিএনসি সদর দফতরে ব্রিফিংয়ে প্রধান অতিথির বক্তব্যে এই তথ্য প্রকাশ করেন ডিএনসির মহাপরিচালক মুহাম্মদ আহসানুল জব্বার। বিভিন্ন জার্নাল প্রতিবেদনের বরাত দিয়ে বাংলাদেশে এখনও বরফের কোনও প্রতিষ্ঠিত বাজার নেই বলে ডিজি জব্বার জানান, উদ্ধার হওয়া দুই কেজি স্ফটিক মেঠের দাম প্রায় ১০ কোটি টাকা। ডিএনসি প্রধান বলেন, মূলত উচ্চ আয়ের গোষ্ঠীর লোকেরা পদার্থটি ব্যবহার করেন। ক্রিস্টাল মেথ হল মেথামফেটামিনের বিশুদ্ধতম রূপ
